Images of Scotland

I took up photography in 1980 when I moved to Scotland and was immediately inspired by the varied scenery, helped by a love of walking and hillwalking, and being able to travel the length and breadth of the country by camper van. I started selling pictures in the 1990s - more seriously in 1996 when I took early retirement.

My photographs are taken with a view to publication in magazines, books, postcards, calendars, tourist brochures, in fact any printed or online publications. To date I have had more than 800 pictures published, in particular, more than twenty Photo Features in The Scots Magazine and contributions of modern pictures to three books by my friend Malcolm Cant, the well-respected historian and author of many books about Edinburgh:

  • Marchmont, Sciennes and the Grange
  • South Edinburgh
  • Edinburgh's New Town

The last two of these titles are available from Stenlake Publishing.

As an alternative to purchasing images directly from this website, most of my images may be found in (and purchased from) the following picture libraries:

Scottish Viewpoint                             Alamy                 and Photographers Direct

I am happy to undertake commissions anywhere in Scotland if you have a particular building, street, village or town that you are interested in - it may be the place where you, or someone in your family, were born or brought up, or you may have another reason why you are interested in a special location. Prices start at £120 and will depend on the amount of travelling involved, and how any resulting images are to be used. Just put your ideas to me on the contact page.

I hope you enjoy searching the galleries for your area of interest, or just browsing through them.
